The Evolving Memories and Moments
I Variation: The Bench in Moments
Seeing the first project was displayed on the gallery wall for the first time, that feeling was indescribable. Unexpectedly, some of the visitors and fellow artists expressed that they love my "story board", the comments from others offered me new perspective to perceive my own artwork, and I am glad that my audience can feel the flow and interaction of life and time from my work. Also, the vibe of the gallery wall changed according to the angle of sun during the whole exhibition, which brought the theme- The Evolving of Moments and Memories alive. Moreover, I have learnt digital photography truly becomes art only when it is printed, and the art is being alived when they are displayed and interact with audience.
This painterly photography project captures and elevates the beauty of ordinary life. Many people asked me, "Where did you take the photos? How did you do that like painting?" I told them, "It is right on my door step!" What are we searching for? Where are we turning? The most inspiring scenery is right on our doorstep! When we see our daily life with these new eyes, our lives will be filled with enjoyment and contentment.

As for the soundscape, I originally expected the audience to listen to it during their visit to my gallery wall, but unexpectedly, one audience member kept listening to it during her whole visit, as she felt the music was so peaceful and calm and she really loved it. I am surprised that my music can be a companion for her and collaborate with other artists' work in such a special way.
One of the most touching moments in this exhibition is the interaction with my 88-years-old audience. A decent lady on a wheel chair, she told me,"Thank you for taking the photos of this scenery." She then shared stories of growing up in a Lake District village and her life experiences with me. Experiencing how artworks inspire dialogue and connection is the most precious moment for me as an artist. She truly enjoyed the exhibition and even asked, 'When will the next one be? I want to come again.' I am so thankful to be part of this exhibition; the work of every artist here helped create this magical moment.

And other sweet moment is the chat with this beautiful couple and their 5 weeks old new born baby! Seeing how art create a space for inter-generations connection, this is a profound moment to witness the preciousness of being alive and being an artist.

Last but not least, it was heartfelt when I shared the stories and life struggles behind my work; an audience opened up and shared her difficulties, and we hugged each other. In that moment, we shared our lives as humans. 'Be vulnerable, Be human' is the philosophy of my art world. I am so touched that this truly happened at the exhibition. For me, an exhibition is a space full of resonance and connection. I have fallen in love with exhibiting.  I am looking forward to the next exhibition and new connections it will bring.

Loved the sense of nobility you give to the everyday. But also, poignant to reflect on memories of biomes places that disappear. I look forward to the dark suppressed next phase + to the redemption.

Thank you so much Lydia for your art contribution, your thought provoking photography- how you managed to make them look so painterly is incredible- I love that you use your body to move the camera to create this effect. Let's do this again!

I love how Lydia is able to capture moments so often we miss the little things and call them ordinary, but there is so much beauty be found in them.
